Learn how managed devices connect to Miradore and what each of the online statuses mean.
Managed devices connect to Miradore's device management service at predefined polling intervals. Devices also connect after they receive a push notification event. This event occurs when you deploy configuration profiles or applications to the device. Devices will also connect when you use the Actions > Sync now option on the Management > Devices page or on an individual device page.
Polling and inventory collection intervals
Different device platforms have different polling and inventory collection intervals.
Android
Connections to Miradore's device management service are managed by the Miradore client application.
The Miradore client connects to Miradore at the following intervals by default:
- Polling: every 3 hours
- Inventory collection: every 24 hours
If needed, these intervals can be modified in the Miradore client app's settings on the device. For more information, see Miradore client for Android.
Apple
Apple devices running iOS, iPadOS, and macOS are managed without a client application, utilizing a built-in management framework.
Apple devices connect to Miradore at the following intervals:
- Polling: approximately every 24 hours
- Inventory collection: approximately every 24 hours
Windows
Windows 7, 8, 10, and 11 devices can be managed using the operating system's built-in MDM profile, the Miradore client, or both depending on the Windows version. For detailed information on Windows device management, see Windows device management.
Windows devices connect to Miradore at the following intervals:
- Polling: every 3 hours
- Inventory collection: every 24 hours
Device online statuses
Device polling intervals and last seen dates are related to device online statuses in Miradore.
A device's status can be seen on the Management > Devices page in the
column and the Online status column (if enabled). Additionally, on individual device pages, the Last reported section shows the device's online status.

To learn more about a device's status, hover over the status indicator (green, yellow, red, light gray, or dark gray dot) either on the Management > Devices page or on the device's individual page.

Online statuses are calculated by comparing the last seen date to status thresholds:
- Online
: The device connected to Miradore in the past 48 hours. - Inactive
: The device has connected to Miradore in the past 7 days but not in the last 48 hours. - Unknown
: The device has not connected to Miradore in the past 7 days. - Unmanaged
: The device has been unenrolled or wiped. - Unavailable
: The device has not connected to Miradore.
Note: Other devices are always in Unavailable status, as they do not connect to Miradore.
Manage Inactive, Unknown, Unmanaged, and Unavailable devices
You can resolve inactive, unknown, unmanaged, and unavailable device statuses as follows:
Inactive device
To change an Inactive device's status to Online, sync it with Miradore through the Actions > Sync now option either on the Management > Devices page or on the device's individual page. Android devices can also be synced using the SYNC NOW button in the Miradore client application on the device.
Unknown device
To change an Unknown device's status to Online, sync it with Miradore through the Actions > Sync now option either on the Management > Devices page or on the device's individual page. Android devices can also be synced using the SYNC NOW button in the Miradore client application on the device.
If the device cannot sync with Miradore, consider re-enrolling it.
Unmanaged device
If the device has been unenrolled or wiped, re-enroll it to start managing it again.
Unavailable device
If the device is unavailable, re-enroll it to start managing it again.
Location tracking
Depending on the platform and location tracking settings, location data is updated separately from the inventories and device polling. More information is available from the Android location tracking and iOS location tracking articles.
