Contacts are not showing in the Samsung Contacts app

Updated on February 4th, 2022

Contacts deployed with Miradore are not showing in Samsung devices.

Description

According to the Samsung Knox Support team, there is a bug in the ContactProvider. Due to the bug, deployed contacts may not show in the managed devices. This isn't a Miradore-specific issue, but it affects all providers of read-only contacts. Currently, it seems that the problem occurs on Samsung devices running Android 11 with the August update.

Samsung has classified this issue as a bug and they're now fixing the issue.

Which devices are affected?

The problem occurs on some Samsung Android 11 devices after installing the August software update. All Samsung devices running Android 11 are not affected. At the moment, we are not certain if this bug affects only Android 11 or will it affect also other versions of Android.

Status: Fix available for some devices

Samsung is aware of and fixing the issue.

Here is a list of devices to which Samsung has released a fixed version of the Contacts app in the Galaxy Store:

(Europe & Canada)

SM-G970F, SM-G973F,  SM-G975F

SM-G980F, SM-G985F

SM-G981B, SM-G986B, SM-G988B

SM-G991B, SM-G998B

SM-G991W, SM-G998W, SM-G996W

SM-G781W, SM-G525F

SM-N981W, SM-N986W, SM-N970F

SM-A325F, SM-A326B, SM-A525F, SM-A526B, SM-A125F, SM-A426B

What to do if the fix is not available to my device?

If your device is not included in the above list, but you're experiencing the same issue with contacts, you should raise a ticket at https://www.samsungknox.com/en/support, write down what device/devices you have and what version of contacts app the devices contain and request for update.

What to do if the Galaxy Store is not available on my device?

Galaxy Store is one of the system apps on Samsung devices. Therefore, it is not accessible on the device if the system apps have been blocked during the MDM enrollment of the device.

In this scenario, you can unblock the Galaxy Store with a Restrictions configuration profile that whitelists the com.sec.android.app.samsungapps system app. For more details, see Managing Android system applications with blacklists and whitelists.

Possible workaround

We have seen that the Android 12 update has resolved the issue on some Samsung devices.

We apologize for the inconvenience,
