This article explains the most common troubleshooting situations regarding Windows enrollment.
Common issues
Miradore client installation fails with an error "Client install failed with error -2147023293" (the error code may vary)
The reason for this can be the Computer's name: it must not contain special characters. Edit the Computer's name, unenroll the device and try enrollment again with the new enrollment credentials.
Another reason can be if there are Miradore client-related files and folders left on the device from a previous enrollment attempt. Check on the device if these folders exist:
- C:\Program Files\Miradore\OnlineClient and remove it if it does.
- C:\Windows\Temp\Miradore and remove it if it does.
- Remove HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Miradore from the registry if it exists.
Remove the folders and files, unenroll the device and try enrollment again with the new enrollment credentials.
Enrollment fails with a "Your device is already being managed by an organization" error message on a managed device
The "Your device is already being managed by an organization" error message is usually displayed if your device is already managed by another MDM solution. If you are unsure whether the device is managed by your organization, check Settings > Accounts > Access work or school > Account > Info.

To proceed with enrollment in Miradore, remove the previous MDM profile before attempting to enroll the device in Miradore.
Enrollment fails with a "Your device is already being managed by an organization" error message on an unmanaged device
You might get the "Your device is already being managed by an organization" error message even though your device is not currently enrolled in any MDM solution. In this case, delete the following keys and subkeys from the device's registry if they exist:
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Enrollments
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Enrollments\Status
If you are unsure whether the device is managed by your organization, check Settings > Accounts > Access work or school > Account > Info.
Light enrollment fails due to file name mismatch
If the installer file downloaded using the Light enrollment method is renamed in any way, installation fails silently. Ensure that you are using the original file named OnlineClientInstaller_[YourSiteName].msi.
Windows Home
Using Windows Home operating system and the client isn’t installed. Download the client via Enrollment > Windows > Light.

Network issues

Entra ID
If an Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) account is linked to another MDM solution, the following error message is displayed: "Your device is already being managed by an organization". In this case, the account must be unlinked from the previous MDM solution to be able to enroll the device in Miradore.
If you are unsure whether the account is linked to an MDM solution check it under Settings > Accounts > Access work or school > Account > Info.
