Defining the configuration
ActiveSync account
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Account name | Define the display name of the ActiveSync account. |
| Server host name | Define the Microsoft Exchange server host name. |
| Use SSL | If enabled, the connection will use SSL. |
Synchronized content
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Emails | Define whether to synchronize emails for the device. |
| Contacts | Define whether to synchronize contacts for the device. |
| Calendar | Define whether to synchronize the calendar for the device. |
| Tasks | Define whether to synchronize tasks for the device. |
Synchronization settings
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Schedule | Define how often synchronization should happen. If this field is set to Automatic, every new item is immediately synchronized. If it's set to Manual, the device user must initiate the synchronization. |
| Mail age filter | Define if every email should be synchronized, or only those that were received, sent, or created in a specific time frame. |
User settings
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| User-specific account settings | Enabling this setting allows the use of account settings for the specific users the configuration is deployed for. If enabled, you must select the account details that will be used to set up Mail for Exchange for the user from the Mail for Exchange account drop-down menu. See Using user-specific settings with configuration profiles for more information on adding account details to User pages.
If you do not enable this setting, the same username, domain, email address, and password are used for all devices that the configuration profile is deployed to, as defined in the User name, Domain, Email address, and Password settings. |
| User name | Define the username for the Exchange account. Include either the username without the domain (for example, John.Smith) or the email address together with the domain (for example, [email protected]). In the latter case, the Domain field can be left empty.
This field cannot be empty if the Use user-specific account settings checkbox is not ticked. |
| Domain | Define the domain of the user account if the User name field does not already contain it. |
| Email address | Define the user's email address for the Exchange account. |
| Password | Define the user's password for the Exchange account. If this field is left empty, the user will be prompted to use their password before accessing their inbox. |
