With Apple Business Manager or Apple School Manager, you can easily migrate your Mac devices to Miradore from another MDM solution without wiping them.
These instructions can be used to enroll your Mac devices running macOS 15 or earlier in Miradore without having to perform a factory reset. However, we still recommend you wipe your devices when migrating them from another MDM server to avoid issues with enrollment.
Requirements
To successfully change the MDM solution used on your Mac device, the following requirements must be met:
- You must have an Administrator or Device Enrollment Manager role in Apple Business Manager or Apple School Manager.
- You must have physical access to the device.
- You must have admin privileges on the device.
Reassign your device to Miradore in Apple Business Manager or Apple School Manager
- Integrate Automated Device Enrollment with your Miradore site.
- Set up your desired enrollment profile in Miradore and assign it to the selected Mac device.
Tip: You can create multiple enrollment profiles in Miradore and assign them to multiple devices. - In Apple Business Manager or Apple School Manager, navigate to Devices, select the device to migrate, then select Edit MDM Server.
- Assign the selected device to your Miradore server.
Remove the current MDM profile and enroll your devices in Miradore
- Using your current MDM solution's instructions, remove the existing MDM profile from your device and ensure that the device is no longer managed.
- On the device, open the Terminal app and run the following command:
sudo profiles renew -type enrollment
Result: The device is prompted to enroll with the new MDM profile in Apple Business Manager or Apple School Manager.
Results: The device contacts the Miradore server and installs the enrollment profile. The device becomes supervised and appears in Miradore for further management and configuration.
