Learn how to regain control of company-owned devices if they have been turned off and the passcode is unknown, and the device does not support Direct Boot mode.
Android devices that do not support Direct Boot mode have a built-in security feature, which prevents them from connecting to MDM until the correct passcode has been entered after the device was turned off. This means that if a device runs out of battery or is turned off after it has been stolen or lost, the device cannot process any input from Miradore until the passcode is entered. This behavior can be problematic if a personal passcode has been set and the user left the company or does not remember the passcode, because to regain access to the device, it must be reset to factory settings. However, if factory reset is denied, there is no way to use the device.
Miradore's Passcode configuration profile can help prevent encountering this issue.
- Create a new or edit an existing Passcode configuration profile.
- On the Passcode settings tab, configure the Maximum number of failed attempts option.
- Deploy the configuration profile on your managed devices.
Results: The device automatically resets to factory settings after an incorrect passcode is entered as many times as configured in the Maximum number of failed attempts option.
