Android Direct Boot mode

The Android Direct Boot mode allows certain apps and services such as MDM services to run and perform limited tasks even before the user unlocks the device.

Requirements

• Android 10 or later
• Miradore client version 2.13.0 (build 425) or later to support actions in Direct Boot mode
• File-based encryption supported by the device
  Note: The Device encryption configuration profile is not required to be deployed to the device.

About the Direct Boot mode

When an Android device is powered on, it automatically enters Direct Boot mode. The Direct Boot mode makes it possible for key applications and services to access storage that is encrypted when the device is locked to ensure that their operation is not constrained. In practice, Direct Boot mode allows critical services, for example, alarm clocks or SMS applications, to send you notifications even before you unlock the device. Moreover, it makes it possible for MDM actions to be performed in the background while the device is locked.

Miradore features available in Direct Boot mode

Miradore offers the possibility to reset the device passcode while the device is in Direct Boot mode. This feature is especially useful if the user forgets the passcode for the device.
