This article offers guidance on the 3DS authentication for credit card payments and on how to solve an eventual authentication error.
Why does the 3DS authentication error occur?
3D Secure authentication is an added layer of security for online credit card transactions. The authentication error occurs when a 3DS authentication has not been performed during checkout. This will cause the bank to decline your transaction, and the payment for your subscription will not go through.
Note: This error does not necessarily occur on every credit card transaction.
How can I solve this?
There are multiple ways for fixing this situation and getting your subscription up and running. We recommend you try the following options:
- Check if your credit card is still valid, the details are correct, and it has sufficient funds.
- Make sure that pop-ups are allowed by your browser. The 3D Secure authentication will appear in a separate pop-up so it is important to make sure nothing is blocking it.
- Try a different browser.
- Try incognito mode in your browser.
- Try to make the payment with a browser on your mobile phone.
