We’re just about set to release our long awaited support for Apple Volume Purchasing Program (VPP), which will let you distribute your company-licensed apps to devices. Also, from iOS versions 9 and up, VPP will allow matching the license to the serial number of the device, enabling silent delivery of the apps. What’s more, you’ll be able to deliver even your free apps without any user interaction. So, what do you need to do to get involved? Just follow the instructions below and hold your breath for a little longer… we’re nearly there!
Your goal is to enroll
To start with, you’ll need an Apple ID for your organization. Then it’s time to enroll your organization into the Volume Purchasing Program. Then, you simply buy the licenses you want and give us a few days to get things running smoothly at our end. So hold on – you’ll be breezing through your app installations in no time!
While we’re getting things ready, it’s a great idea to set up your devices using the Device Enrollment Program, too. Another enrollment, we hear you cry, but don’t despair: it’s more than worth your while for the automated enrollment and ongoing management even in case of factory resets. To find out more, check out our earlier blog post about the many ways DEP will save you both time and money.
Finally, to enjoy the benefits of VPP, you’ll also need the Enterprise Plan of Miradore Online. Thankfully, at just $2 per device per month, it’s a bargain.
Say hi to totally silent app installations
In case you’re already paying for application management, you may wonder what the deal is with VPP. Well, with VPP it’s possible to install paid apps too, and without VPP your users must enter their Apple ID even for installing free apps. VPP makes the installation of both your free and your paid apps totally silent, so you can rest assured that apps are never left hanging in wait for user input.
Combined with our Business Policy Enforcement and DEP support, you’ll have your entire device procurement process automated. All you have to do is order an iPhone or an iPad directly to the user, and when they unbox it, it’ll be enrolled and all your policies and apps will be installed automatically.
Sounds good, works even better
Needless to say, at Miradore, we’re massive fans of VPP. And whether you’re a tech professional thinking about all the menial work you’ll avoid, or a decision maker thinking how much money automating that menial work will save you, we’re sure you’ll soon see why.
But don’t just take our word for it! Register for the upcoming webinars on Wednesday the 10th of February for a demonstration and check it out for yourself. Depending on your time zone, one for our friends across the pond starting at 12:00 PST and one for the old country folk starting at 11:00 UTC. In the meantime, stay tuned for the release: we’ll keep you posted!
