Migrating MDMs is Now Easier than Ever
The 2025 Apple update revolutionized MDM migration, eliminating the need to wipe devices when re-assigning them to a new solution in Apple Business Manager. For you, this means migrating your entire Apple fleet to Miradore is easier and faster than ever. Now is the perfect time to make the move and start realizing the benefits of a simpler, more cost-effective MDM solution.
Why Switch to Miradore?
We know switching MDMs is a big decision. Here’s why moving to Miradore is worth it:
- Cross-Platform Support: Stop managing multiple tools. Miradore supports iOS, macOS, Windows, and Android from a single console, so you can save time, reduce license costs, and unify policy enforcement across your entire mixed-OS fleet.
- Simplified Administration: Not only is Miradore simple and intuitive, but by unifying all devices under one tool, your administrative life gets dramatically easier too. And if any questions arise, our award-winning support team is accessible via phone, chat, or email.
- Multi-Instance Management: Manage multiple Miradore instances from one central view, without compromising security. From our MSP Portal, you can view user permissions and payment information for all clients, centrally manage and share configuration profiles, and even get insights into estimated monthly costs and projected sales revenue.
- Integrated Remote Support: Solve issues instantly with natively integrated attended remote support. This allows you to troubleshoot not only your managed fleet but also quickly assist unmanaged devices (like contractor or BYOD endpoints) with ad-hoc issues, without needing a separate screen-sharing solution.
Mapping Your Migration: The Miradore Cheat Sheet
Every MDM system is a little different, and transitioning can feel daunting. We've mapped out the core concepts of Miradore here to show you how easy it is to adopt a simpler, more unified workflow for your entire fleet.
Core Miradore Concepts
| Devices Page | All devices (iOS, macOS, Windows, Android) are in one central tab. Devices can be sorted or filtered based on different attributes, and clicking in to individual devices gives you more detailed information on that device (such as specific location) and lets you perform specific actions. |
| Device Page Dropdowns | Remote commands (wipe, lock, restart, etc) are available via the Actions, Lifecycle, Security, and Deploy dropdowns in the individual Device Page, accessed from the unified Devices Page. |
| Business Policies | Business Policies then act as Miradore’s "blueprint" that bundles configurations, apps, and certificates, with options for adding dependencies and a centralized place for tracking deployment progress. Devices are assigned to Business Policies using Tags. |
| Tags | Tags are the primary way define the scope (or target devices) for a Business Policy. |
| Configuration Profiles Page | The central place where you’d set up all configuration profiles, such as Wifi or passcode settings, restrictions and application blocklists, and policies around system updates. These can then be deployed to individual devices from directly within the Configuration Profiles Page or be added into a Business Policy. |
| Applications Page | A single location for managing App Store, VPP, Google Play, Managed Google Play, in-house, and custom apps across all operating systems. This is also where you’d add and manage custom scripts and packages. These can then be either directly deployed to individual devices from this tab, or added to a Business Policy. |
| Patch Management Page | One place to manage both Windows and Mac OS updates and a wide selection of third-party applications with automation and pilot group options. Here you can also build Pilot Groups and set Installation Rules. (Note: Patches are tagged to devices directly in this page, not via Business Policies) |
| Reports Page & Dashboards | For a quick overview of your fleet, use Miradore’s customizable Dashboard. Dig deeper with a versatile Report Builder and built-in reports, which allow you to create unique, highly granular reports using a vast array of extracted device data. |
| Attributes | Add common attributes to devices like Location or Organization, or create custom attributes. These can then be used for reporting and inventory search. When defining the scope of management tasks instead, tags are used. |
General Deployment Workflow In Miradore
1. Enroll Devices: Add your devices to Miradore based on the kind of enrollment best suited for your company in the Enrollment sections of the side navbar. If you’re using Apple’s Automated Device Enrollment, you can build out Enrollment Profiles that customize the Setup Assistant from the Apple DEP page.
2. Create Items: Create/Add the following in their respective pages: Configuration Profiles, Applications, or Files & Certificates. From these pages, you can assign individual items to selected devices directly, or do the following:
3. Group Devices with Tags: If there are groups of devices that may need a similar combination of Configuration Profiles, Applications, Files, etc., group those devices together with Tags. Some Tags are added automatically, but you can also create and add Custom Tags in the overall Devices Page or in an individual Device page.
4. Build and Deploy Business Policy: Create a Business Policy and assign it to any applicable Tags. Then, bundle multiple items such as Configuration Policies and Applications into that Business Policy, set any dependencies (such as the specific order where you’d like things to be deployed) and deploy the policy to tagged devices. After deploying, you can track the deployment status for all tagged devices right in the Business Policy Page.
Note: MacOS and Windows operating system updates and Third Party Software updates are not added to Business Policies but rather managed and assigned directly in the Patch Management page.Ready to Simplify Your MDM?
