We’re very happy to announce some brand new improvements in Miradore’s location tracking for Android. This includes the possibility to adjust the minimum update interval and distance change for a location tracking configuration policy. These settings decide how often a device reports its location to Miradore Online.
Enjoy near real-time location tracking
For example, if you set the minimum update interval to 1 minute, it allows you to have practically real-time location tracking for your devices. Alternatively, to conserve the battery, you can set the update interval to 24 hours.
Change the distance required for reporting
Thanks to the new Minimum distance change setting, you can set a distance threshold. This means you can decide how big a distance the device location needs to change before reporting an updated location. The change can be adjusted from 10 meters (~ 33 feet) to 1 kilometer (~ 0.62 miles).
Get an immediate update
In addition, you can now request an immediate GPS location update on a device’s location. The Sync now action on the device page triggers an instant update when location tracking has been enabled for the device. Before you set short update intervals or distance thresholds, do keep in mind that location-tracking features may shorten battery life and up data usage!
NEW FEATURE! Text blasting to end-users
Another great new feature allows you to send messages to Android users directly from the device page. Once sent, a message will appear as a notification on the device and is shown after the user opens it.
To enjoy these fantastic updates, you need Miradore Online Business Plan edition and also need to upgrade the devices with Android client version 2.3.0. For more information check out the release notes. Any comments or queries, drop us a mail via firstname.lastname@example.org.
