EID and eSIM in Miradore – more efficiency in managing your iOS devices

1 min read

Andreas Handler

The EID (Embedded Identity Document) of an iPhone is basically the unique serial number of the eSIM chip. Mobile phone providers can use it to transfer a mobile phone tariff to the device remotely.

How does this help you as a Miradore customer? You can order an iOS device directly to the user's address (home office, branch office). Thanks to the Automatic Device Enrollment (ADE, formerly DEP) options, the device automatically registers with Miradore and can therefore be set up automatically according to your guidelines. Until now, you had to ask the user for their EID, send them a QR code or even a physical SIM card. All too cumbersome.

Many mobile network operators support eSIM remote provisioning: you can create a SIM profile in the backend using the EID and assign it to the device. This allows the phone number and mobile phone contract to be transferred to the iPhone or iPad remotely.

As described in our release notes, the EID is displayed in Miradore and is also available in the reports. This will save you even more time and money.

Prerequisites:

  • The provider must have a technical connection to the Apple eSIM activation server.
  • The EID must exist in its database and be assigned to a customer account or contract.
  • The iPhone/iPad must have Internet access (Wi-Fi or temporarily via mobile radio) in order to load the profile.
