As previously posted, we’ve heard your call and are now racing towards the finish line for our Android (formerly Android for Work) development. Through that, we enable you to separate work and private data on your devices. After deployment, there’s zero risk of cross contamination, so no worries about your corporate contacts leaking via private instant messaging apps or e-mail attachments. What’s more, other corporate data will not get mixed with a user’s personal data or stay on the device after an employee leaves your organization.
Silent app installation and automatic configuration
Google Play (formerly Google Play for Work) enables you to silently install work apps to your work container in all of your compatible Android smartphones running Android 5.1.1 or above. Managed configurations also enable you to configure the apps remotely – so whether you want to automatically configure your users’ mailboxes or blacklist web addresses for Chrome, it’s all at your fingertips.
Corporate app store
Google Play enables you to approve your apps on a per-user basis, and configure a store layout for them. The users can then open their Work Profile App Store, and install their approved apps from there as self-service. Did we mention this works for both free and paid apps?
Don’t forget security
As usual, device security is paramount. Even with a container, you’ll want to ensure the security of that container. Fear not — the passcode and encryption requirements are there to secure your data. Furthermore, we’ll disable USB debugging mode and unknown sources package installations on your devices to ensure against malware.
Automation is where it’s at
All of the above works together with our Business Policy Enforcement to make it happen automatically. After enrollment, you can have all the apps with the configurations deploy automatically, as Miradore is an Enterprise Mobility Management partner for Google’s Zero-Touch Enrollment. So the ability to get a container, install your business apps and enable true, safe BYOD in your organization is available for employees right out of the box.
This is just the first step. In the near future, we’ll be implementing the Device Owner mode of operations, which should give us much of the capability we currently have for the iOS devices via DEP and VPP, and Samsung devices via KNOX. Stay tuned for more updates!
