Apple’s been offering their Device Enrollment Program to streamline enterprise device acquisition and deployment for a while now. They’re extending their support all the time, so read on even if you’re not in the lucky 26 countries already supported. Chances are you soon will be.

1. Zero touch configuration

When you buy your devices, the first thing you do is normally the same, regardless of whether you’re a private educator with just 10 iPads or an enterprise with thousands of devices. You jot the information down, configure the device and send it to the user. We don’t have to tell you just how expensive such unnecessary manual labor is, whatever the size of your operation. What’s more, there’s always a chance of human error.

With DEP and the Miradore Online Enterprise plan, you’ll cut out this phase entirely, saving tons of time. All your devices will be automatically managed. You’ll get an always up-to-date, reliable device registry, your devices will come complete with the security settings and configurations of your choice, and software will be installed as soon as you first turn them on.

2. Supervision for powerful control

While it’s previously been possible to use the Apple Configurator to put your devices into supervised mode, that’s been a labor intensive job for the preinstallation department. DEP makes this, too, seamless and automatic.

So why should you care? To prevent data and money loss. You can stop your users from installing new apps and prevent them from removing those you’ve installed. You can say goodbye to excess data usage by disabling YouTube, podcasts and automatic app updates. And, especially if you’re an educator, you might want to deny your students access to explicit content. For ultimate security, you can even restrict your iPads and iPhones into single app mode. With users unable to do anything beyond the specified app, this is ideal for point-of-sale devices, media centers and education.

3. Miradore forever

With DEP, we’re finally able to prevent anyone from removing the device management. If your users don’t like your policies, it’s always worthwhile to hear their concerns. Until you agree with their arguments, however, they have no choice but to comply.

Even factory resetting the device – if you allow it – won’t remove the device from Miradore. You’ll always be able to track your device’s location and even send messages to it. In our experience, just pointing out you have such powers can be enough to stop any ‘accidental loss’ problems.

4. Simplify setup and spread happiness

Since we can configure all the settings remotely, why not remove the burden from the user? There’s no need for them to click through million different settings, decide whether Siri should be enabled or disabled, read through terms of service. In fact, they don’t have to do much anything at all. Once they unbox the device and turn it on, they’re ready to go!

To see why this is a huge money-saver, think of how many times your relatives have recently asked you what to do when a random configuration popup appears. Multiply that by your number of devices and you’ll soon have enough work for a full time support guy! Not to mention the device downtime for a trivial reason, or the lost productivity when a teacher takes an hour to click through device configurations instead of planning a class.

5. Order your devices and go

When you’ve set up your configurations, there’s literally nothing more to it. Once you’re a DEP member, just order your devices from Apple or an authorized reseller and get them to your users. Everyone will be instantly set to go, and everyone’s life will be simpler. Enroll into DEP now and get started with Miradore Online too. We guarantee you’ve never had it so easy.

Stay tuned for more

While we know this sounds great, it’s just the first version. Though the holiday season’s approaching, we’re still going full steam ahead and working on more awesome features. These include OS update control, disabling Activation Lock (you don’t want your corporate devices to be locked onto your user’s Apple ID), and more. We’ll keep you posted!
